We assume programmes were on sale on the Thursday night. We would be interested to know if the team sheet was for the Press only or was available to spectators.

For the re-arranged match, spectators in the seating areas entered free of charge by producing their ticket. The ticket was then marked with a pen. For the rest of the stadium, gates opened at 5:30 PM on a first-come, first-served basis with a nominal entrance fee of 10p. This was reduced to 5p after half time.

Because of the previous night’s postponement, there was concern that the match would have to be postponed again, due to weather conditions, once spectators had entered the stadium. For the standing areas – where there was no match ticket – tickets were issued to spectators that could be used for the re-arranged match.

I did see a single sheet on the offers list at Sports Programmes many years ago for this rearranged match at Anfield. Maybe it was just a Team Sheet?

Also remember it was only 10p to get in that night!

This is where it started. On Thursday, the 10th of May 1973 at just after 8 PM, my Dad turned on the radio for the second half commentary on BBC 2. I listened enthralled as the noise from the terraces filled the kitchen of our farm house in the west of Ireland. Forty two years on and I am still following their fortunes!
