The following Sunday Liverpool lost 3:1 to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. The match had a 12:00 PM kick-off time. Andre Ayew and Jack Cork gave the home side a half time lead. Second half substitute Christian Benteke pulled one back for Liverpool. Ayew restored Swansea's two goal advantage immediately with his second goal of the match. Brad Smith was later sent off for this second bookable offence. The result left Liverpool in 8th place in the Premier League table on 55 points after 35 matches.
