The following Sunday Liverpool won 3:2 against West Ham United at Upton Park. The match had a 4:00 PM kick-off time. Glen Johnson gave Liverpool the lead. A Mark Noble penalty and an own goal from Steven Gerrard gave West Ham a half time advantage. Two goals in quick succession midway through the second half from Joe Cole and Jonjo Shelvey gave Liverpool the points. The result left Liverpool in 10th position in the Premier League on 22 points after 16 matches.
