The following Sunday Liverpool won 1:0 against Sunderland at Anfield. The match had a 2:00 PM kick-off time. The only goal came from Emile Heskey - his first strike in 21 matches - in the first half. Didi Hamann was sent off just before half time. Robbie Fowler, playing his last match for Liverpool during his first time with the club, was substituted at half time. The result left Liverpool in 1st position in the Premier League on 26 points after 12 matches; 2 points ahead of Leeds United who had played a match more.
