The following Sunday Liverpool won 2:1 against Wycombe Wanderers at Villa Park in the semi-final of the FA Cup. The match had a 4:00 PM kick-off time. The match was scoreless at half time. Two late goals from Emile Heskey and Robbie Fowler put Liverpool in a comfortable position. Keith Ryan pulled one back for the second division team with two minutes to go but it was Liverpool who went through to the Final. Arsenal won the other semi-final to set up a meeting with Liverpool in the FA Cup Final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in May.
